Senior citizen pilgrims harp on praying to move Nigeria forward

Amman,Jordan, A cross section of senior citizens on pilgrimage in Israel have underscored the need for compatriots to intensify prayers for Nigeria to achieve greater feats.
The elderly persons that consist Septuagenarian ages from 70 to 79 gave the advice in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Jordan.
Those, who spoke on sidelines of the 9th batch of the 2022 pilgrimage, said they lived to recent times unhappy with negative happenings in the country.
They expressed concern over hardship the insecurity, unemployment and illegal migrations by their children brought to them.
While stating that such posed concern that should be put to an end,, they reiterated calls for intensive prayers to curb the menace
Madam Lami Leo, a pilgrim said she wasthe Holy Land to pray for Nigeria and for the general unrest in her state, Kaduna.
“We bury very young children these days, during our time it was not so, as we pray ,Government should change their attitude and care for the masses,” she said.
In the same vein, Mama Laraba-Danladi Sodangi said she was was concerned about the issues mentioned and prayed against late marriages for the youth and the affliction they faced to be removed.
She, therefore, suggested there should be more empowerment programmes and job creation, to keep the youth from indulging in crime.
In another interview, Mama Sarah Ali, said she prayed for a better Nigeria whereby, the youth would stop migrating to other countries and thereby sold, as though no one cared for them.
“Our children can send you money, but what about communal living, visiting, seeing each other and knowing we are fine, we have to pray for a better society now as we are here,” she said.
Deaconess Olufunke Akinyemi of the Methodist Church Lagos, Nigeria urged compatriots to prayer for leaders in the country to lead by good example.
According to her, if a nation would move forward, the crave to make money by illegal means and tell lies should not be found in its population.
She also said that the easiest means to progress in any nation was to adhere to God’s commandments.
On his part, Rev John Nash,Chairman, New Life for All, a religious-based organisation, urged Nigerians to always forgive and seek divine intervention to overcome challenges in life.
“Our prayers for Nigeria is that leaders should learn to forgive, listen to God’s instruction before acting.
“We have a lot of bitterness against each other, starting from the leaders down, if we do not have forgiving spirit, then there is no how we will progress,” he added.
