BSU Alumni transition committee notifoes Benue Gov’t of National Conference

Benue State University Alumni Association (BSUAA) on Thursday, 2nd November, 2023 notified the Benue State Government of BSUAA’s National Convention slated for December, 2023 during a courtesy call on the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Prof. Joseph Alakali
The Chairman of the Transition Committee, Comr. Solomon Atavti, who notified the State government of the national convention, elaborated on the state of affairs of the association and the role expected of the transition committee within the period of November to December 2023
Comr. Atavti further seeks Government support towards a successful Convention and for an effective alumni and overall well-being and development of Benue University as a whole
While Congratulating the SSG on his appointment, Comr. Atavti commended the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, for prompt payment of Pensions of retirees and salaries of workers and the return of Civil Service culture of continuous training and retraining of staff to sharpen service delivery
Atavti who assured the Governor of the association total support to his administration, acknowledged the repositioning of tertiary institutions in the state, especially Benue state university via the set up of the Visitation Panel to review activities towards a global standards
Responding, the SSG, Prof. Joseph Alakali, assured the Transition committee of Government support, noting security and other areas
Prof. Alakali, stated that the people of Benue state and particularly the Benue state government take university very seriously, noting why Government always placed Benue state university on first line charge
While tasking the Transition Committee to ensure that the right thing be done and the right leadership of the association is maintained, Prof. Alakali, called on the transition committee to bring on board all aggrieved members back to the fold, adding that the Visitor of the University will not be happy if the association continues in crisis, he further stated that, He will interact with all the president aspirants in due course
Prof. Alakali who called on the association to emulate other alumni Associations, stated that the governor is doing everything possible in ensuring that the university maintained a high position the in ranking of universities in Nigeria
Speaking, the Majority Chief Whip, Benue state House of Assembly, Hon. Peter Ipusu, expressed dissatisfaction with the affairs on leadership of the alumni, adding that, the leadership of the state Assembly has already commenced process to restore peace in the alumni
Also Speaking, The Special Adviser to the Governor on Unions and Labour Relations, Hon. Iyoo Johnathan Igbondo, called on the association to embrace peace
On separate remarks, some Presidential aspirations, Comr. Shighe Tyohen and Comr. Mrs Abavio all appreciated the SSG for granting the transition committee the opportunity to interact with him on behalf of the state government.
