By Aluta News
Rep. Ikenga Ugochinyere (PDP-Imo) has pledged to engage in extensive consultations with leaders across Imo to find solutions to challenges of violence, security breaches, and social unrest that have marred the state’ progress.
Ugochinyere made the pledge in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja after he hosted Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 11 Imo governorship election and his running mate, Mr Jones Onyeriri.
The statement said that the approach is to galvanise a broad spectrum of opinions and perspectives in shaping a forward path for the state.
It said that the party leaders discussed the need for a united effort to address the pressing issues facing Imo.
They agreed that the challenges facing the state required high urgency to curtail them to restore peace, security, and prosperity to the state.
The statement said that the meeting signified a significant stride towards unity, reconciliation, and the overarching interests in Imo, aimed at forging a common ground despite their past differences.
According to the statement, the significance of the meeting is so fundamental in light of the historical affiliations with different political factions.
It said that the leaders unanimously agreed that the time had come for Imo leaders to set aside personal and political differences and prioritise well-being of the populace.
The statement said that the lawmaker, however, promised to announce choice of candidate after wider consultations with Ideato and Imo people.
