Benue Governor warns against illegal taxation in the state

The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has warned against increasing illegal taxation in all the markets across Benue State.
The Governor gave the warning during a Thanksgiving Mass and Grand Reception organized by Kunav United Development Association (KUDA) to thank God for his victory at the polls and also celebrate his 33 years of priesthood.
He said multiple levies and illegal taxations is having a negative impact on the state economy and the need to address this has become quite imperative.
Recall that Governor Hyacinth Alia had earlier warned against indiscriminate falling of trees and advised those who erect illegal check points to extort money from motorists to stop.
He thanked his people for the massive votes they gave him during elections, and for organizing a Mass of thanksgiving to God in his honour.
The homilist, Fr. Linus Huabo advised Fr. Hyacinth Alia to remember that it is God that called him and he should listen to the word of God and follow the path of truth and fairness.
In his welcome address, the President General, Kunav United Development Association, Engr. Amusan Vaatia said the election of Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia as Governor of Benue State is a saving grace to Kunav nation and Benue State at large.
Top Kunav sons and daughters, including, Sen. Jacob Tilley Gyado, Dr. Boniface Wada, Mrs. Espie Ushe Uba, Mary Ikya, Rt. Hon. Dorathy Mayo, amongst others spoke at the occasion.
The Association also adorned the Governor in Tiv traditional attire.
