Benue APC guber candidate confident of victory

Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia, the Benue governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence of winning the Saturday’s governorship poll.
Alia stated this on Saturday after he cast his vote at Bako Market Square polling unit 052 in Mbadede Ward of Vandeikya Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
He lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for improving the election process.
“INEC has improved enormously on the electoral process. We need to appreciate our progress from where we were in yester years.
“Now we are using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) without issues,” Alia said.
He advised his fellow candidates to play the game according to the rules for the sake of peace, emphasising that peace was what all of them should desire.
He said that he was happy to perform his civic responsibility.
He said that the state was dysfunctional; stating that the state did not have roads, water among other things saying that was why he had come to liberate the people.
He stated that his government would create enabling environment for agricultural activities to thrive in the state.
He promised to ensure autonomy for Local Government Councils in the state, assuring of bringing back the life of civil service because it was the engine room of the government.
“Civil servants are dying every day because salaries are not paid as when due.
“The people are gracious to me and I will not take it for granted,” he said.
He promised to order for a forensic audit to determine the state wage bill, stating that the current government claimed not to know the number of people who were in service because it lacked accountability and transparency.
Also, in Tarka LGA, a member of the state house of Assembly, Mr Bem Mngutyo, who represented Tarka constituency, said that the election was peaceful, stressing that the electorate were willing to exercise their franchise.
“They want to participate in electing a new government because they are tired with what the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led government,’’ he said.
He also commended INEC for improving on the process, stating that he had no issues with BVAS which showed that nation was growing.
