On 11 August 2025, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, welcomed the Chief Executive Officer of Simba Tours and Travel, Ethiopia, Mr. Woubeshet Alemayehu, on a courtesy visit to the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
During the meeting, Bishop Adegbite reaffirmed the Commission’s openness to building strong collaborations with reputable Christian tour operators who share the vision of advancing the cause of Christian pilgrimage. He emphasised that such partnerships would play a pivotal role in enhancing the spiritual and cultural experiences of Nigerian pilgrims. Speaking from personal experience, the Bishop recalled his visit to Ethiopia, noting that the country is blessed with an abundance of Christian heritage sites, historic churches, and monuments that could enrich the NCPC’s pilgrimage offerings. He described Ethiopia’s Christian history as both profound and inspiring, underscoring the need for Nigerian pilgrims to experience it first-hand.
In his remarks, Mr. Alemayehu expressed enthusiasm about working closely with the Commission, revealing that Simba Tours and Travel is prepared to serve as the official ground handler for Nigerian Christian pilgrimage groups visiting Ethiopia. He explained that the company already maintains a strong working relationship with Obamark World Travels, their official partner and principal representative in Nigeria for pilgrimage-related travel.
The Simba Tours and Travel CEO went on to highlight past initiatives jointly organised with Obamark World Travels, including several familiarisation tours for senior Nigerian Christian leaders and distinguished delegations. These visits showcased Ethiopia’s most notable religious and historical attractions such as the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela, the historic castles of Gondar, and the vibrant cultural and spiritual landmarks of Addis Ababa.
Mr. Alemayehu was accompanied during the courtesy visit by Mr. Solomon Nwachukwu, the Chief Executive Officer of Obamark World Travels, whose presence further underscored the depth of the existing relationship between the two companies and their shared commitment to strengthening ties with the NCPC for the benefit of Nigerian pilgrims.
