The Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Nweze Umahi has emphasised the need for the full deployment, implementation, as well as institutionalisation of the goals of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021- 2025 (FCSSIP 25).
In a statement signed by M. A. Ahmed, Director, Press and Public Relations, the Minister expressed the Ministry’s commitment to lead in its implementation, being a prominent player in the delivery of Federal Government policies, plans, programmes and projects.
He made this pledge at a a one-day Management Retreat on FCSSIP25 with the theme: “Specific Roles of Heads of Department in the Implementation of FCSSIP25,” on Wednesday, 2nd October, in Abuja.
Engr. Umahi, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Yakubu Adams Kofarmata, reiterated the conscious and steady commitment of the Ministry in the actualisation of government’s reform initiatives, such as its readiness to go digital; commencement of staff performance assessment; consistent observation of the Reward and Recognition System for outstanding performance; commitment to staff capacity development and the institutionalisation of Innovation Competition/Challenge to tap the capabilities of staff, as well as many others.
While declaring the Retreat open, the Honourable Minister urged participants to ensure full compliance with their assigned duties in accordance with FCSSIP25, also pay attention to the lectures.
Earlier in her Welcome Address, the Director, Reform Coordination and Service Improvement, Mrs Charlotte Ibekwe, stated that the Ministry’s decision to bring together Heads of Departments and Units was to get them acquainted with their individual, as well as collective responsibilities toward the full realisation of the laudable objectives of FCSSIP25.
She revealed some of the activities lined up, to deepen their understanding of FCSSIP25, as follows; Ministerial Innovation Challenge; Development Partners’ Conference on Innovation; Customer Satisfaction Survey on Projects; and the Annual Reward and Recognition ceremony.
In her Goodwill Message, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, who was represented at the occasion by the Permanent Secretary, Service Policies and Strategies Office, HCSF, Dr. Deborah Odoh, acknowledged the numerous achievements of the Federal Ministry of Works in the implementation of FCSSIP25 such as Performance Management System (PMS), Innovation, Rewards and Recognition System and Digitalisation, and encouraged the Management to continue being at the top.
She seized the opportunity to introduce the new Service Change Song, which is meant to unite the workforce and redirect it to a culture of Accountability, Meritocracy, Professionalism, Loyalty and Efficiency.
The Director-General, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dr. Dasuki Arabi, represented, also reiterated the need for the Ministry to key into the reforms for effective service delivery and good governance
