Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Bishop Stephen Adegbite has said he would restore the glory and confidence of NCPC in all ramifications. He made this assertion while playing host to the executives of the FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board who paid him a courtesy visit at NCPC corporate headquarters, Abuja on Tuesday ,5th March, 2024.
Bishop Adegbite appreciated the FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board for their visit. He stressed that they were
the first Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board in the country to pay him a courtesy visit since his assumption of office on 5th, Feb 2024 which coincidentally marks his first month in office today. In his words, “it is commendable and expected being the landlord of NCPC”.
The NCPC Boss enjoined his guests to cooperate with the Commission so that together, NCPC would become a jewel to behold in Nigeria and to the world at large.
He disclosed that pilgrimage would commence soon as preparations are in top gear as due process is being followed. He further disclosed that the Bid Opening for ground handlers and Air Carriers is scheduled to hold on 11th March, 2024 at the NCPC corporate office in Abuja. He assured that the Commission would not compromise standard and would ensure that the pilgrims receive value for their money and their safety and comfort are guaranteed.
Bishop Adegbite commended the efforts of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike for his support to the Commission and for a job well done as the FCT Minister, according to him, “lawlessness and recklessness would be over, and there must be sanity in FCT and Nigeria at large”.
The NCPC helmsman intimated his guests that they should all live as one and be their brother’s keeper, according to him, “we should guard Nigeria jealously and embrace peace, when there is peace we talk of pilgrimage, but when there is trouble you talk of survival’. In his words, ‘our task is beyond pilgrimage, we are to ensure we foster peaceful coexistence among Nigerians and people of other faith”.
He explained that the current hardship being experienced in the country is a global recession which is not peculiar to Nigeria alone. He therefore called for caution, restraint and understanding as the situation would soon be a thing of the past. According to him, ‘protest in the world is all over the news and as such, we should come together to assist one another as a government, church, and individuals, because the bible has enjoined us to love our neighbors as ourselves and when you do it , you will receive blessing in return”.
Earlier, the Director of the FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mrs. Rahila Baita in her remarks said, she and the executives of the board are in the Commission to welcome the new Executive Secretary of NCPC, Bishop Stephen Adegbite and congratulate him on his well deserved appointment and also to show their support to the Executive Secretary.
Mrs. Baita hinted that the Executive Secretary came at the right time and she believes he is here to direct and make sure the right thing is done always. In her words.” we are always available when you need the assistance of the board’, she said.
She appreciated the FCT Minister for his concern and support for Christian Pilgrimage and also requested the Executive Secretary to appreciate the Hon Minister of FCT as well as the Hon Minister for State for their support to the Christian body.
