Fidelity bank distributes food item to IDPs

As serious efforts are being made by the Government, NGOs, Corporate bodies and spirited individuals to intervene to the plight of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Benue State, Fidelity Bank Plc,embarked on food distribution programme tagged ‘Fidelity Food Bank’ distribution to the IDPs at Ichwa camp.
The measures according the corporate body is to cushion the effect of food hardship on the Internally displaced persons due to herdsmen attacks.

Performing the ceremony, the Benue State Branch Manager Fidelity Bank, Mr. Terwase Swande said the food items was aimed at reducing the pains of displacement orchestrated by the farmers/herder crisis.
Mr. Swande pledged to sustain the partnership with Benue State Government through BSEMA, adding that the gesture is their corporate social responsibility to support the Persons of Concern.
Responding, the Acting Executive Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency(BSEMA), Sir. James Anodoakaa Iorpuu, lauded the gesture as timely, nothing that the Persons of Concern are in serious need of the items distributed to them.
While assuring the State Branch Manager Fidelity Bank of transparent distribution of food items to IDPs, the Ag. SEMA boss called for continuous partnership with the Bank, requesting for their full participation in the resettlement plan of the IDPs back to their ancestral homes.
Sir. James Iorpuu reassured the IDP’s of the State Government’s commitment to return them back to their communities and promised to commenced another food distribution in few days.
Representative of the Governor of Benue State, Hon. Fidelis Paul Unongo called for patience with the present Government, saying the Government of Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia is not sleeping until the IDPs are return to their homes.
Chairman of the Ichwa IDP camp, Mr. Tar Abraham, expressed happiness and commended the Executive Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency for his leadership strides, focused on the repositioning of the various IDP camps.
He also thanked Fidelity Bank for their intervention, appealing for it’s sustainace.
Humanitarian partners present at the event includes; Foundation for Justice, Development and Peace (FJDP) Fr. Alia Foundation, Staff of Fidelity Bank Makurdi branch and representative of Fidelity Bank, Lagos.
