Alia urges new Local Government Heads to be committed to duties

The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has requested Directors General, Services and Administration (DGSAs) in the 23 local government areas of Benue State to be committed to their cause and ensure that at every point in time, they are found to be at their duty post.
The governor made this request Tuesday, July 04, 2023 during a meeting with local governments DGSAs, Treasurers, and Internal Auditors in the Old Banquet Hall of Government House, Makurdi.
Governor Hyacinth Alia who was represented at the meeting by his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Paul Biam charged the new heads of local government areas to understand the concept of new leadership and be committed to it with a view to moving Benue Sate forward.
He explained that payment of salaries to local government workers is delayed for a purpose to understudy the various reports of deceit that came to them, adding that the monies are intact and they will soon continue payment.
Also, the Governor, through a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary, Government House Administration, Moses Tor Leva, requested all the DGSAs to submit necessary information about their local government areas.
He equally requested for the following:
a). The nominal roll of staff of all Departments to be signed by the Head of Departments (HODs), Internal Auditor, and the (DGSAs).
b). The nominal roll in question be used to prepare the pay roll for May and June, 2023.
c). All mass promotions/steps beyond March, 2023 should be reversed, and the payment voucher for May and June, 2023 should not include the said promotions.
d). Payment voucher for the month of March, 2023 for ease of reference and further action.
The Governor finally advised them to comply
with all the directives and submit the outcomes to the Permanent Secretary, Government House Administration within 48 hours.
The chairman, Forum of Internal Auditors, Peter Igyeegye who responded on behalf of the people, thanked Governor Hyacinth Alia for inviting them for that kind of interface and promised a prompt response to enable the government pay at least one month for local government workers to have some money to work on their farms.
Other key officials of Fr. Alia’s administration, including Secretary to the State Government SSG, Prof. Joseph Alakali, Head of Service, Moses Agbogbo Ode, Principal Private Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Chenge and Permanent Secretary, Government House Administration, Moses Tor Leva were present at the meeting.
